5 Signs It's Time to Upgrade Your Hosting

Most businesses upgrade hosting reactively — after a crash, after a client complains, after a big campaign falls over. A few warning signs usually show up well before that point.

1. Your site slows down under normal traffic, not just spikes. If page loads degrade noticeably during your everyday busiest hours (not just during a sale or promotion), your current plan's resources are the bottleneck, not a one-off surge.

2. You're getting intermittent 500 errors or timeouts with no clear pattern. This is a common symptom of a server under sustained memory or CPU pressure, especially on shared hosting where you're competing with other sites for the same resources.

3. Backups are slow, manual, or you're not fully sure they're running. If you can't say with confidence when your last successful backup completed, that's a hosting-management gap worth fixing before it becomes a crisis.

4. You've had to explain downtime to a client or your own team more than once this year. Recurring downtime, even brief, is usually a sign the underlying infrastructure — not just the website code — needs attention.

5. Your current host's support takes a day or more to respond to a critical issue. For anything business-critical, response time during an outage matters as much as the hosting specs themselves.

If two or more of these sound familiar, it's worth a conversation. We also handle full migrations from your current host at no charge — see our migration page for how that works.
